Archaeology and Museums

The archaeology reveals a rich legacy from the Mesolithic times (c 6000BC) onwards. The estate includes various sites of the Cucuteni culture (6,000-3,500BC) as well as the largest Dacian cemetery found in Romania. Many of the finds from excavations on the estate are on display in the museum in Roman. In the local county town Piatra Neamț is the Cucuteni museum with a world class collection of artefacts and painted pottery from one of oldest civilisations in Europe beautifully presented. Further afield, the excellent museums in Iași have just been completely renovated.
